How to Download Videos from Twitter (X)

Twitter (now X) gives you no way to save a video you're watching. NoBS Video Downloader fixes that: paste the post link, pick your quality, and the video lands in your Downloads folder. Here's the whole process, start to finish.

Download a Twitter video in 4 steps

  1. Install NoBS Video Downloader

    Grab the .zip for Windows below, extract it anywhere, and run the app.

  2. Copy the tweet's link

    On the post you want, tap the share icon and choose Copy link(or just copy the URL from your browser's address bar). It looks like https://x.com/user/status/123….

  3. Paste the link and pick your quality

    Drop the link into NoBS, then choose Video for the full clip or MP3 for audio only, and select the resolution you want.

  4. Setup the cookies.txt file to enable authentication

    Most of the time: NO.

    YouTube and the large majority of sites download perfectly fine WITHOUT any cookies. Leave the Cookies field empty for those.

    You only need a cookies file for content that requires you to be signed in, or that is age-restricted, members-only, or private — for example some X (Twitter) media, age-gated videos, or subscriber content.

    How to add it correctly:

    1. Install a 'cookies.txt' export extension in your browser:
      Chrome / Edge: 'Get cookies.txt LOCALLY'
      Firefox: 'cookies.txt'
    2. Log in to the site in that browser and open the video's page.
    3. Click the extension and export the cookies.txt file.
    4. Back here, click 'Browse...' next to the Cookies field and pick it.
    5. Start your download. The app uses those cookies automatically.

    Keep it private:a cookies file contains your active login session. Don't share it or upload it anywhere.

  5. Hit Start Queue

    Click Start Queue. That's it!

Frequently asked questions

Is X still called Twitter?

Twitter was rebranded to X, and tweet links now use the x.com domain. NoBS handles both x.com and the old twitter.com links — paste whichever you have and it works the same way.

Can I download the video in the highest quality?

Yes. After pasting a link you choose the quality before downloading. NoBS pulls the original resolution X serves for that post, up to the source quality the uploader provided.

Can I save the audio only as an MP3?

Yes. Switch the format toggle from Video to MP3 and NoBS extracts the audio track as an MP3 instead of saving the full video.

Does it work for GIFs and looping videos?

X serves most “GIFs” as short MP4 videos, so they download as a normal video file. Drop the link in and pick Video.

Do I need a Twitter / X account or the app?

No. NoBS works from the public post link — you do not need to be logged in, and you do not need the X app installed.
